GGRMS January 27, 2023 w/ Jake Sprecher
The first hour is dedicated to the upcoming Taverne Tour that is about to take over many stages across the city of Montreal from February 9th to the 11th. Huge fans of everything that the good folks over at Mothland present Prince Palu and Oncle Ian are always happy to help promote whatever it is that they have coming down the pike! Two lengthy sets cover music from ten of the bands set to take part in the festival: La Sécurité, Bibi Club, zouz, Kristian North, Allô Fantôme, Piss for Pumpkin, Night Lunch, Solipsisme, Drogue, and Chou. Head on over to tavernetour.ca to get all the details and buy your tickets now so you are not left cry on the sidewalk while the rest of us get down inside!
The second hour features a wonderful swirl of serendipity, when the path of Jake Sprecher of the Chico, California band The Wind-Ups crossed with the lads of The Go-Go Radio Magic Show. After a novella’s worth of e-mails between Jake and Ian, these two forces for good music and good times would meet face-to-face in the cozy confines of the CJLO DJ booth. Never had Ian or Palu meet someone for the first time in person on live radio, but they had a good feeling about this fella from Northern California, and they sure wasn’t wrong. In about as long as it takes you to read this these three became fast friend and a life long union was forged.
Jake presented The Wind-Ups yet-to-be-released album, Happy Like This, and talked about the creative process in making this absolute banger of a record! There is also talk about the music scene in Chico, how he ended up on Mount Saint Mountain records, his early years growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area, and his work with Jonathan Richman.
If you are in need of a whooping dose of #RadioMagic, look no further than right here!
